My name is Paul Pennington and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in the central Texas area. I completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Texas State University and a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling at Angelo State University. I am also a Trust-Based Relational Intervention Practitioner trained through the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University. I have over 15 years of mental health experience in a variety of settings ranging from schools, private practice, residential facilities, and even crime scene crisis counseling. I have had the privilege of helping people with various issues such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, trauma, abuse, life transitions, relationships, existential issues, and other obstacles that have caused an unbalance in their lives.
Everyone is different and we all have different needs at different times, so the type of approach we use will depend on the situation. Generally, the most beneficial approaches I have found are Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trust-Based Relational Intervention, Solution Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. At some point all relationships have difficulties, it can be a relationship with a spouse, coworker, friend, parent, child, someone you met in a line, or even your relationship with yourself.
We all need help from time to time and I am here to help you navigate whatever life may be throwing at you right now.

totally recommend, open and supporting
Really good service thats saves the expensive shop versions of counselling.
In the short time I have spent with Paul I have seen HUGE improvement in the way I see myself.
Very helpful and responds quickly.
Mr. Pennington is both personable and professional. He listens with an attentive, caring ear. Letting you lead the session, he offers possible solutions to the dilemmas he sees expressed in your life. Very helpful, qualified individual.
Paul has been extremely helpful in unraveling my concerns and giving me a solid plan of action to work on. He is willing to go the extra mile to understanding the underlying problems. This makes me feel like I am not alone in my process of healing.
Paul is someone patient, open-minded, and wise who really guided me through my emotional problems with the sessions that we had. The advice that he gave helped me start to focus on recognizing my self-value rather than hanging on to the past or the others. I would recommend him to anyone who needs counseling. Thank you so much, Paul!
I've only had a few sessions and am new to therapy, but Mr Pennington has a kind demeanor that makes it easy and comfortable to talk to him.
Paul helped me open up about issues that have been bothering me my entire life. It felt like i let go off all the baggage I carried around with me from my past because of his counselling. He also presented me with techniques to improve my communication and emotions within my relationship which will be beneficial for me for my rest of my life. Thank you, Paul! I am truly grateful.
I just want to thank Paul for everything. I know we live in two separate countries, so sometimes the timing is a bit hard, but we make it work. He lives in the US and I live in Europe....so he's actually the perfect person for those middle of the night mind races, because he's still awake and able to chat. (And I know that sounds a bit silly, but it's really helped me calm down and actually get back to sleep more than once now).
Not only that, Paul's kind, engaging, smart, thoughtful and really acts like not only a therapist but as a friend...and that is truly rare to find in someone. He's helped me out so much I actually spoke to a friend who was dealing with some heavy stuff in his life, and he signed up to Better help as well!
Anyway, long story short: Paul is awesome, full of love, expertise and helpfulness, I promise anyone with any mental health issues, with just a hard time in life or even someone who just wants a real human to connect with to have a speak with could really receive some love, attention, support and help from him.
