About me

Hi there! I am so very glad you have decided to view my page.
Paula Sophia Schonauer, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Oklahoma. I earned my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Oklahoma in 2017 with a focus on direct practice, which addresses individuals, groups, and families. Since then, I have worked in a community setting where I have experience with people struggling with depression, anxiety, anger management, domestic abuse, trauma issues, substance use, and people with chronic and severe mental health diagnoses. I have also worked with LGBTQ+ people.
I believe the development of a therapeutic relationship is central to the success of treatment, and I bring an open mind, a nonjudgmental attitude, and an unconditional positive regard to client/clinician interactions. I have a warm, interactive style of counseling, and I refrain from using stigmatizing labels. I use a strengths based approach that emphasizes trauma-informed and value-centered care. I offer respect, sensitivity, and compassion to all who seek my counsel.
As the saying goes, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step." Since you are looking at my page, you have taken that crucial first step. I look forward to participating in your journey toward a more fulfilling life.

She is excellent I feel comfortable opening up to her which is not something that I easily do. Just from one conversation I started feeling so much better.

Written on Apr 07, 2021 after therapy with Paula for 2 weeks on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, grief, and coping with life changes

Paula has been amazing from day one. I felt at ease speaking to her straight away.
Over time Paula has really understood me, my environment and helped me overcome some of the toughest times I have faced. Paula has bought reasoning and understanding into my problems; helping me to overcome them and be at peace.
I have a lot of respect for Paula and would recommend her support to anyone without doubt. Despite the distance I have not felt any limitations to Paula's support. I just wish I could give her a huge hug to say thank you for everything.

I’ve only had one session with Paula Schonauer but she was very attentive to my needs. She listened and educated me on my own mental health behaviors. She offers up tools that would help me be better. I feel safe when talking about my issues with her.
