I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. I offer therapy for people of all ages and all mental health and substance use difficulties, in whatever combination they occur. I have also helped couples and families work out their problems. As a social worker I look at every area of life, believing that where we live, our physical wellness, our relationships, the way we think, our past, the emotions we experience, what gives our lives meaning and purpose and often so many other factors all play a part in making our lives what they are, so the treatment I offer looks at all of these. Everything we talk about is strictly confidential, allowing us to talk about anything and everything. I never judge and you can expect me to be honest and truthful with you. I absolutely believe in the potential for everyone to experience a positive change in their life. I use a number of different therapeutic styles many of which include helping people manage their problems, figure out what is really important to them, work out what they want from life and what they can do to move them towards their hopes and dreams. I am an American citizen but was born and spent the first 30 years of my life in England and I still retain much of my accent. My first career was working for the British government. I returned to school and obtained my Master’s degree in Social Work at the age of 40. As well as academic and theoretical knowledge, I draw on a broad range of life experiences including having had my own personal struggles with both mental health problems and substance use. At present I offer standard office hour appointments, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm, although I have accommodated individual scheduling requirements in the past. Our initial visit includes a lot of information gathering to help me better understand what I can do to help you. I look forward to meeting you, hearing your life story and helping you write the next chapter.

He actually cares and listens. Which sounds cliche but he genuinely does and his sessions aren’t cookie cutter. The comfort and professionalism he offers are unparalleled!

Philip is a breath of fresh air in a world of chaos. His grounded and intelligent perspectives both inspire and provide feelings of safety and comfort as I work to grow in my own views of self and the world. I am so grateful for the kindness, patience, expertise, and unconditional positive regard Philip has consistently extended through our work together.

I’ve only had a few sessions, but Phil always has the best advice, and I feel like I’m talking to an old friend who “gets me”. I really think I’ll begin to find myself again, and work through my past traumas with Phil in my corner! Not to mention he has a great laugh that could put a smile on anyones face. I’m truly appreciating the time we get to spend together figuring me out! Coming from a skeptic who’s been through the wringer with therapists - I finally believe I have found my match.

In the short time I have been working with Philip he has helping me regain personal strength in who I am, and with confidence To how I am regaining ownership of myself, love my self, understand my flaws and grow into a better human-being.
Philip is helping me gain knowledge to take criticism w/o balling up into a tight wound ball of anxiety that lashes out with panic attacks.
Philip Bloomer has great professional character, easy to talk to and a laugh that sets your soul at ease!!!

Philip is a compassionate, intelligent and funny human. He is absolutely with charisma, and always has something remarkable to offer of his thoughts. He seems to have this way of being supportive, while also still creating a space where logic and rational thinking have a moment to work together when life is chaotic. I really appreciate his wit, as well as his genuine nature. His open mindedness and willingness to listen are rare qualities. I’m grateful I came across his profile here, and would absolutely recommend.
