Hello! I am a licensed professional counselor with over 7 years' experience serving individuals and families in institutional, outpatient, and community-based settings. Also a board certified music therapist, I can provide modified music therapy treatment to individuals who feel they may benefit from this approach. My clinical experience includes work with children and adults dealing with mood disorders, anxiety, anger-related concerns, post-traumatic stress, relationship difficulties, chemical dependency and other addictive behaviors, motivational and self-esteem challenges, as well as those with developmental delays, including autism and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.
A strong connection with your counselor is essential to progress. My approach is individualized, holistic, and focused on helping you understand your feelings, your values, and your patterns of thinking and behavior, and how all of these influence one another and you as a whole person. Additionally, I utilize experiential interventions to help you access real feelings in the moment while also encouraging you to try out new ways of being in the world that you can also try translating into your daily life. Attachment theory, as well as Gestalt, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and REBT techniques guide my practice, though my primary goal is to approach treatment in a way that works best for each individual I work with.
I commend your taking action in searching out help for the challenges you are facing. While we sometimes believe that asking for help is a sign of weakness, it actually takes more strength to admit that we are struggling. It often feels easier to continue to suffer in silence but taking the step toward getting help, although at times frightening, is the first step toward a better you. I’ve been talking to Philip for a couple of months both using the message board and live chat session. His counseling is extremely helpful for me. I had initially lots of concerns about talking to a stranger about my life issues, but felt more and more safer gradually over the time. Philip knows how to listen and knows how to ask the right questions to help me understand myself better. I can’t use voice or video for now, but he types really well using the live chat and I feel that it goes as smooth as a real life conversation with a kind friend. He replies very fast and often sends links to some additional information that describes relevant ideas and techniques. He is very professional and respectful. I definitely recommend him.

I have only completed one live session with my counselor Philip, but the session was very helpful and I look forward to doing more. Philip immediately made me feel comfortable and at ease. We had a very light conversation about both my history and Philip's and then dove right into the issues that I wanted to discuss.
