About Me

We all have hopes and dreams. Sometimes as we pursue them life happens and it is my goal to be a resource to help those who are having difficulties in life to solve their problems, cope with whatever is troubling them, and live up to their full potential. I recognize the importance in deciding if I am a good fit for you so I would like to share a bit about my approach to helping individuals I am privileged to work with.

My career has gifted me with over 10 years of experience in the field working with individuals and families who have had a variety of very different issues. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages and hold both an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) and LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor) and provide counseling to help individuals giving them an objective perspective of the problems or situations they wish to resolve.

I base my practice in using an eclectic collection of skills I have acquired over the years working with different people of different ages, cultures, and backgrounds. I believe in using a strengths based approach to helping individuals while focusing on aiding them to develop healthy ways of coping with a variety of issues such as life cycle changes, family dynamics, interpersonal problems, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, co-dependency, and other issues such as trauma. This approach allows me to use many elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, solution focused therapy, and many other classical theoretical orientations in the field of psychology. I am an evidence-based counselor which means that I use therapies that are proven to help people resolve their problems.

It is important to me to recognize the uniqueness of each person and that what may aid one may not aid another, and therefore, when deciding how to help a person to resolve their problems I believe it is vital that they are an active part of the process when deciding how we set goals together moving forward. I would be proud to be a part of your journey as you overcome whatever is troubling you as you progress into the future and overcome your obstacles. I believe in YOU and your ability to build a happy thriving future for yourself.

So far Phoenix has been a compassionate counselor who seems to understand what my primary concerns are. He is empathetic and is a good listener. I trust that he had my best intentions at heart.

Over the last few months working with him, Phoenix has given me some great life skills. The best part is we go over my worksheet and he gives me tips on how to communicate better. He cares -truly cares about his clients.

As with all, finding the right therapist is unique to you. That being said, Phoenix is great at what he does and I would recommend him to anyone.

Phoenix has always been there for me. He generally gives positive reinforcement, but is willing to help challenge some of your limiting beliefs or misconceptions about your experiences. The journey I've been on with his support is unbelievable to me. I've grown because of his support and understanding.

Phoenix has been great. I know that during our first session I was a little all over the place trying to explain what was going on. He demonstrated his support with his understanding responses. He sent me worksheets that had tangible steps that I could use during troubling situations. As he received my responses, he would encourage me to share more (if I was comfortable) and he allows me to have a huge hand in how I receive help. That to me is a sign of respect for me as a whole person. I couldn't have asked for a better counselor, at this time.

I was nervous about my first video session with Phoenix but, once I met him, I began to feel very comfortable with him. I was able to open up to him during our first session and he gave me some tools to work at the end of our session. I look forward to my 2nd session with him.
