I want you to know that you are not alone in this and I am excited to help you through the process. Here is a small profile about me and how I can help you through this process.
My name is Phyllis Ama Darkwa and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have experience working with young adults to older adults that may be dealing with mild to severe mental health illness. I have experience counseling individuals, couples, and families through a warm and compassionate approach. I believe that most of us do not take a enough time to take care of ourselves, our needs and desires. I am big on understanding my clients and their needs; so I love creating and relating to my clients through validation and empathy. This means I use a person-centered therapy, support therapy, mindfulness therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, and solution-focused therapy approaches to better serve the needs of my clients; all these approaches depends on the needs of each client.
Our time together is about getting to know your needs, the problem you are currently facing, and sharing my knowledge through evidence-based approaches in creating a concrete plan. A concrete plan requires both our collaboration and effort to help you deal with what is currently happening in life. I have experience working with adjustment life issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem issues, phobias, parenting, divorces, breakups and other relational issues. I am here to help the best way that I can and that start by me being an active listener and participant in your world. It may not be easy to share that world with me; however, it is my job to create a warm and comfortable atmosphere for you to trust me with your world! Thank you for reading and hope to see you soon.

Phyllis is an extremely kind and empathetic person. From the beginning of our conversations, she has been so responsive and present to what I have been going through. Phyllis goes the extra mile and devotes her full attention when in sessions. I would highly recommend Phyllis to anyone starting their self-love journey.
Very helpful listens and gives the best & honest answer. Does her best to help and even to open up if your a shy person or a person that just bottles things up!
Phyllis Darwa is a excellent Counselor, she listens and gives great feedback . She is really supportive and gives great insight and I feel very comfortable opening up and talking during our sessions.
Phyllis has an acute way of listening and providing feedback in a manner that is understandable. I appreciate that she is open and honest and would recommend her to others.
From the very first conversation we had I knew she was the right choice. She is very compassionate and she keeps checking up on me which I really appreciate. Highly recommend her!
Phyllis is a great counsellor and a great person. She has been so understanding of my worries and has not once made me feel inferior or silly for my concerns (this was a worry I had about telling people my troubles)
She has taken the time to speak to me whenever I needed her and together we have begun to figure out where my issues lie and how I can try to move forward and retrain my brain.
I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to be guided by her.
