About Me

Hi there! I’m Rachel, a marriage and family therapist in Austin, Texas. I was inspired to become a therapist by my own experience as a therapy client. During a time in my life when I felt lonely and stuck in an unhealthy relationship, my therapist was able to accept me as I was and validate my experience while also helping me gain insight into what I was doing, why I was doing it, and how I could change it. Since then I have strived to provide this experience for my clients.

I received my training from a non-profit that serves individuals, couples and families who would otherwise be unable to afford counseling. As an intern I studied narrative therapy, an approach that encourages clients to view experiences as stories that we tell ourselves and that, as a result, assign meaning to the behaviors that we display and witness in others. The goal of narrative therapy is to free ourselves from rigid, unhelpful stories about our lives and discover productive, empowering ways to interact with the world around us. I continue to apply narrative therapy to my work today, helping my clients discover new ways to define themselves and live fuller lives.

My clients come to me because they're sick of their job, they're tired of fighting with their partner, they're adjusting to their new life as a divorced parent, they're grieving a death, they're newly or not so newly sober, and because they're questioning what their next steps in life are. I help my clients address constant stress, negative self image, lack of motivation, fear of the future, sadness about the past, and confusion about the present. I validate my clients’ pain, sorrow, frustration and anger, so we can clear the way for growth and acceptance.

I'm here to accept you as you are and help you find your way to the person you want to be.

I’ve only been with her for 2 weeks but she is so sweet and thoroughly listens to me and gives me genuine advice I feel that has already helped me in ways. She is so understanding and it not judgmental at all.

Rachel is amazing, hands down. I don’t feel awkward or like I’m in some study by a doctor. I feel like she’s a friend and genuinely cares about my well being and gives me solid advice and constructive methods to ease my issues and make life easier. I wouldn’t trade her for the world!

Rachel has made a lasting impact in my life and in my marriage, and we have already referred friends and family to her to set up sessions. I wish everyone had a "Rachel" in their life.

Rachel is very compassionate and allows you to lead the conversation where you need it to go. I only began to work with her recently but I would recommend her to anyone. I feel like I am talking to a friend with no bias.

I'm only on my third session but I absolutely love my therapist already. She's very professional, understanding, and genuinely cares about talking me through any issues I'm dealing with. I feel comfortable talking with her and that's a really big thing for me. I highly recommend her and I'm so happy we were matched.

Immediately after I signed up I was matched with Rachel, I was unsure what to expect. She made me comfortable within just her first message! I feel like she understands where I am coming from and truly wants to help me!
