Rachel Larreta, LMFT
About me
Hi there! I’m Rachel, a marriage and family therapist in Austin, Texas. I was inspired to become a therapist by my own experience as a therapy client. During a time in my life when I felt lonely and stuck in an unhealthy relationship, my therapist was able to accept me as I was and validate my experience while also helping me gain insight into what I was doing, why I was doing it, and how I could change it. Since then I have strived to provide this experience for my clients.
I received my training from a non-profit that serves individuals, couples and families who would otherwise be unable to afford counseling. As an intern I studied narrative therapy, an approach that encourages clients to view experiences as stories that we tell ourselves and that, as a result, assign meaning to the behaviors that we display and witness in others. The goal of narrative therapy is to free ourselves from rigid, unhelpful stories about our lives and discover productive, empowering ways to interact with the world around us. I continue to apply narrative therapy to my work today, helping my clients discover new ways to define themselves and live fuller lives.
My clients come to me because they're sick of their job, they're tired of fighting with their partner, they're adjusting to their new life as a divorced parent, they're grieving a death, they're newly or not so newly sober, and because they're questioning what their next steps in life are. I help my clients address constant stress, negative self image, lack of motivation, fear of the future, sadness about the past, and confusion about the present. I validate my clients’ pain, sorrow, frustration and anger, so we can clear the way for growth and acceptance.
I'm here to accept you as you are and help you find your way to the person you want to be.

Rachel is great! I have been seeing her for a year and a half now and she has helped me work through so much. The tools she provides me outside of our sessions have become part of my daily routine leading me to a more healthy way of living. I cannot say enough good things about Rachel. I am really grateful Betterhelp introduced me to her.

Rachel has made a lasting impact in my life and in my marriage, and we have already referred friends and family to her to set up sessions. I wish everyone had a "Rachel" in their life.

Rachel is very compassionate and allows you to lead the conversation where you need it to go. I only began to work with her recently but I would recommend her to anyone. I feel like I am talking to a friend with no bias.
