I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor with a BS in Psychology from Thomas More University and MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I am pursuing my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, with a focus on forensic mental health. I began working in the field of mental health and substance use 9 years ago, and I have been licensed as a counselor for the past 6 years. I have practiced as a clinical counselor in Ohio and Kentucky with a specialization working with adults and adolescents with substance use disorders, PTSD, anxiety, mood and personality disorders, and psychotic disorders. I use an integrated counseling approach emphasizing cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques with person-centered approaches and trauma-informed care, utilizing mindfulness strategies to enhance personal growth and awareness. I believe that counseling is a journey that requires honesty and authenticity, and the reward is self-awareness and increased coping skills to overcome barriers. I believe every person is capable of wellness and worthy of peace. Warmth, compassion, and empathy are key components to the interactive nature of counseling, and I strive to provide these components in individualized care for each person.
On this platform, I typically check in a few times a day Monday through Saturday to respond to messages. I have time designated for people to schedule live sessions in my schedule if needed or wanted. I encourage people to schedule the appointments when they are ready, and will engage with messages as often as possible, Monday through Saturday. I look forward to meeting you!

Rachel is quick to respond and very helpful with techniques to deal with mental distress and to improve my life quality. I am enjoying my counseling experience.
She is amazing. She listens and understands what I’m saying and supports me with her outside opinion. She has helped me so much in just a short amount of time.
Rachel Johnson is helpful and observes your responses in a way that helps you to be proactive about the changes you need to make. She observes and validates your feelings at the same time she gives you a gentle reminder of why you connected with her in the first place!
Very empathetic, personable, and kind.
I’ve been working with Rachel for close to two weeks. I had a lot of personal growth I needed in my life, and so far she has been nothing but great, helpful, respectful, and responsive. I’m getting exactly what I need.
