Rachel Risler, LCSW
About me
I am a clinical social worker licensed in Illinois and North Carolina ,and have been a social worker since 2004. While I have provided "traditional" counseling for the past three years, I have additional experience working with adults and their families through my work in hospice and long term care over a span of 15 years. I have worked with adults of all ages, including centenarians! Common issues we work on together are depression, anxiety, sleep issues, caregiving stress, and grief. I am also very knowledgeable in coping with various medical conditions, including memory loss, ALS, cancer, diabetes, and heart failure. I like helping people manage stress related to these often complicated issues, whether their own or a family member's.
My style is open and friendly, encouraging you to share your story and working collaboratively towards your goals, at your pace. I draw primarily from client-centered therapy, narrative therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.
I look forward to hearing more about you!

Rachel’s great. For me, what’s most important is that she’s engaged in our discussions. She’s not just there to hear you vent, though of course sometimes venting is part of the process (at least for me). She’s also not there to to tell you what you have to do. She listens and has a conversation built around helping figure out what issues might be and what potential solutions could be.
