Welcome! I am a licensed clinical social worker with 7 years of experience providing individual, group, and family therapy. I have worked with clients to address a variety of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, low self-esteem, relationship issues and family/parenting issues. I also have experience in the areas of addiction, trauma and abuse, grief counseling and intimacy issues.
I primarily apply a cognitive behavioral approach, helping clients challenge negative thoughts about themselves and their world in order to change unwanted behavior patterns and cope with overwhelming emotions. I also practice strengths-based therapy, emphasizing individual self-determination, resourcefulness and resilience.
By focusing on a client's strengths rather than their shortcomings, we are able to develop goals that build upon their best qualities, create more realistic expectations of self and others and develop a more positive world outlook. One of the most important life lessons we can learn is that being positive is a choice. I enjoy helping people learn how to make that choice even under tough circumstances and increase their ability to cope with their emotions in a healthy way.
Therapy is truly a collaborative process and my role is to provide empathy, support, and explore how I can best help you to reach your goals. My counseling style is honest, engaging, nonjudgmental, and genuine- I look forward to getting to know you!
