About Me

Welcome! I am a licensed clinical social worker with more than 5 years of experience providing individual, group, and family therapy. I have worked with clients to address a variety of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, low self-esteem, relationship issues and family/parenting issues. I also have experience in the areas of addiction, trauma and abuse, grief counseling and intimacy issues.

I primarily apply a cognitive behavioral approach, helping clients challenge negative thoughts about themselves and their world in order to change unwanted behavior patterns and cope with overwhelming emotions. I also practice strengths-based therapy, emphasizing individual self-determination, resourcefulness and resilience.

By focusing on a client's strengths rather than their shortcomings, we are able to develop goals that build upon their best qualities, create more realistic expectations of self and others and develop a more positive world outlook. One of the most important life lessons we can learn is that being positive is a choice. I enjoy helping people learn how to make that choice even under tough circumstances and increase their ability to cope with their emotions in a healthy way.

Therapy is truly a collaborative process and my role is to provide empathy, support, and explore how I can best help you to reach your goals. My counseling style is honest, engaging, nonjudgmental, and genuine- I look forward to getting to know you!

Rachel is a wonderful counselor and I feel lucky to have been matched with her! She responds in a timely fashion with excellent advice and different resources to try. I have tried counseling before in other settings and it never worked very well for me. I’m glad I gave BetterHelp a shot because I finally found someone who makes me feel better. Thanks, Rachel!

Rachel has been wonderful. She is attentive, understanding, and patient with all the things I have to say and offers advice and encouragement generously. She is prompt and thorough in her responses and that has helped me feel comfortable talking with her, knowing she takes an interest in reading what I am saying. I would definitely recommend her specifically, as well as, BetterHelp in general. An overall positive experience so far! I look forward to working with Rachel further.

Rachel was such a good listener, she totally got me. I felt comfortable and safe talking to her from a few emails in, and then even more so after our live sessions, which I always looked forward to. Rachel provided me with many different types of strategies to cope with how I was feeling and they helped greatly. I am really thankful I was paired up with Rachel.

Rachel has been helpful over the past few weeks; a great sounding board and doesn't hold back the hard truths. I really appreciate how she checks in when I have been unresponsive. I'm finding the process to be a really good experience.

Rachel has a warmth and friendly approachable style that makes her an excellent counselor. She takes time to get to know you before evaluating how best to support. She is particularly skilled at knowing how and when to probe, or wait before exploring topics. She uses resources available to her appropriately and you never sense that she is counseling ‘by the book’ In an online forum this is particularly important and makes the service completely personalized. I can’t recommend Rachel highly enough, though I don’t really want to say that, as selfishly I would like to keep her to myself!

Rachel is a really good and understanding person, as well as a great professional. It felt like she knew what I needed to speak up about, and what was blocked inside me. My life has changed with Rachel's help. Thank you all for this project!
