About me

Congratulations on your decision to take better care of yourself! I’ve spent over 30 years helping people identify what is undermining their enjoyment of life, and learning new ways of thinking and responding to the challenges life has thrown at them. Whether it involves repairing damage that occurred earlier in life, recovering from a recent trauma or disappointment, developing new skills and directions, or simply learning to live with something that is outside our control, I have had the opportunity to help people from all walks of life find solutions and reassert control over their lives. I feel privileged to be invited into a person’s inner world, and work hard to earn the trust necessary to partner with you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself, build healthier relationships, a more rewarding and balanced life, and greater emotional strength and resilience.
I’m a psychologist licensed in California with advanced degrees in both clinical and organizational psychology. My work has focused on helping people make and adjust to major life changes—relationships, family, career, ageing and loss, as well as resolve conflict over career and business matters, recover from trauma—early childhood abuse, combat exposure, first responder “fatigue”, sexual and physical assault, and cope with life-changing chronic illness and catastrophic workplace injuries. Understanding each person’s life and history is central to my approach in helping you clarify the issues you need to resolve now, and make any changes in thinking or strengthen skills needed to achieve your goals. While it may be camouflaged behind a swirl of confusion, I believe each of us has inside us the answer to the questions that motivate us to seek help. But, that said, I take an active role in offering feedback, suggesting alternatives, sharing insights gained from my training and experience, and, especially, creating a safe and supportive space in which to search for those answers. I would welcome a chance to work with you, and am happy to answer any further questions you might have about me or my background.
