About me

I am licensed in Ohio with 10 years of professional counseling experience. I graduated with my Master of Social Work degree in 2011 from the University of Toledo. I have experience in helping clients with coping with daily life stressors, stress and anxiety, LGBTQ+-related issues, relationship issues and managing grief and loss. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey. I am so happy that you reached out for help.

Thank you for taking the time to attend therapy and focus on your mental health needs. Please read the following information as a means of explaining some of the expectations of therapy and our time together, so as to get the most out of your experience. Counseling provides you with an opportunity to discuss and process problems and/or concerns that may be affecting your daily life. This is done in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment. The goal of this process is to find ways that can potentially help you develop healthy/effective coping skills, manage problematic symptoms, improve interpersonal relationships, find healing from past trauma(s), and decrease depression/anxiety symptoms. Though these are the goals of therapy, there can be no guarantee or promise that treatment will be successful.

It is my hope that each client becomes empowered by their counseling experience and are able to achieve the goals they set for themselves. I will provide you with guidance, support and encouragement as you work toward meeting your goals. I also find it important to acknowledge that it is ultimately up to you as the client to follow through with the work necessary to reach your goals. Therapy is a collaborative effort and good communication with my clients is necessary to make it work so I welcome your questions/thoughts and feelings. You may take advantage of the messaging system available on the platform to provide brief check-ins/updates, ask questions or for reminders regarding previous or upcoming appointments. Please feel free to schedule your first live session. Note: My hours available are currently between 9:15am-2:15pm for scheduling appointments. Also, please be advised that YOU MUST BE PRESENT IN THE STATE OF OHIO DURING ALL SCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS per the licensing board that governs my license (CSWMFT Board). All sessions have the opportunity to be 45 minutes in length and if a shortened time period is preferred, that can absolutely be arranged.

Thank you!

Rebecca (Becky) Carbary, MSW/LISW-S
