About Me

I am a licensed therapist with 16 years of counseling experience from Pittsburgh PA.

My treatment approach is person-centered, present-focused and collaborative. I truly believe in meeting people where they are at, and empower them to be their "authentic self". I coach individuals on healthy coping skills and provide "real life" feedback to help you gain control over your emotions and tackle life challenges. I believe that validation and acceptance are our tickets to emotional freedom. I combine elements of mindfulness, radical acceptance, and effective communication skills, with helping you learn how to challenge your negative thoughts and self-perceptions to improve your self esteem. I help you understand why you may be "stuck" in a negative pattern of behavior while coaching effective coping skills to move towards change.

I have specialized in mood and anxiety disorders for the majority of my career, and am an effective coach for helping people learn how to better manage relationship difficulties, stressful life transitions such as divorce, unemployment, or traumatic loss, and other forms of life stress.
I specialize and am a trainer for multiple evidence-based practices including; Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and anxiety disorders, and Motivational Interviewing.

I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2003 with a Masters of Social Work. I have worked in both clinical research and clinical counseling at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for the majority of my career; and have specialized in treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Pediatric Anxiety Disorders, Major Depressive Disorder for both adolescents and adults, Borderline Personality Disorder, PTSD, and am well-versed in trauma-informed care. I believe in empowering all individuals to believe in themselves and understand we are responsible for our own growth and change.

"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves"--Viktor Frankl
