About me

Welcome! My name is Rebecca and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. I have over 10 years experience working in the Human Services and Social Work field. I have worked with people whom are diverse culturally, with varied life-experience, and with many age groups along a spectrum of life's experiences. I have the most experience working with family/relationship conflicts, role-changes, caregiver strain, and impactful life transitions. I also have experience working with women who are experiencing challenges and transitions related to motherhood.

My dedication to the field of mental health stems from my personal experience with it. I know first-hand how impactful getting support can be on one's everyday life activities and decisions. I also believe that people can have detrimental counseling experiences that are incongruent with what the individual is needing at that time in life. I begin from a foundation of belief that we all go through stages and seasons of life, what worked in the past may not work now, being adaptable and practicing new ways of being and re-evaluating thoughts and roles we assume in a safe and supportive counseling relationship allows one to "try on" that new way of being before taking it, gradually, into one's everyday life and relationships.

I use a person-centered, holistic, collaborative approach in treatment. This means I begin where you are and tailor the treatment approach to your needs while being sensitive to how your individual cultural identities and lifestyle choices impact your experience. I primarily use evidence based techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling. However, I do incorporate more "classical" approaches to counseling as well.

I would describe my style as warm and supportive, and I am ready to help you tackle your struggle head-on. Collaboration is important - together we can work on establishing concrete goals and steps for you to help overcome your current problems, and also bring further understanding around specific themes or challenges. If you are looking for quick fixes, I am not the best counselor to work with. I believe in taking time and working on wellness slowly, holistically, and consistently.

Please be advised I am currently available to provide services to female clients. I apologize for any inconvenience this may create. Thank you again for taking time in learning more about me.
