About me

Hi I’m Rebecca! I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a private practice in Maine. I have 7 years experience working with adults and several more years of experience in the education of life. Additionally, I am a Certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor trained at UCSD Center For Mindfulness. I co-founded an MBSR program at my local hospital 5 years ago and currently still teach programs there.

I was drawn to mindfulness practices over a decade ago on a self-help quest. I found that I resonated with the teachings and practices as they seemed to foster so many of the qualities that I wanted to develop. Qualities that over time allowed me to access a deeper sense of self-awareness, and helped me engage with life’s struggles with more ease (of course not all the time!) Now as an instructor and counselor, I take such honor as a witness to the process of clients integrating aspects of this practice in their every day lives.

My therapeutic approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. I find that most folks respond well to a blend of aspects from several of these orientations, depending on the unique concerns and goals of the individual.

I have experience in group therapy where I worked at an outpatient psychiatric partial hospitalization program. In what feels like a past life, I spent several years as a health coach and later studied the integration of nutrition and mental health.

I am delighted to work with people who are looking for support or change. Whether you live with anxiety, depression, a chronic illness, loneliness, or feel consumed by the ever-increasing stressors of life, I am happy to have a conversation and answer your questions to get a sense if we are a good fit. I believe that finding a clinician that you are happy with is such a large factor in therapeutic outcomes.
