Rebecca Roberts-Kerns

(LPC, ATR-BC)

About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Wisconsin and Illinois and a Board-Certified Art Therapist. I am also an artist, herbalist, and aromatherapist.

I have experience working with women in residential treatment suffering from trauma, eating disorders, mood disorders, addiction, and personality disorders. I believe most problems stem from traumas of varying degrees. Awareness of how trauma impacts the mind and body allows it to be healed rather than avoided or channeled into destructive behaviors. I have taken many continued education classes to further my study of trauma treatment.

I also have experience in hospice working with both transitioning patients and bereaved families. Grief and loss is another major area of interest and continued education for me. Loss is part of the human experience and no life is untouched by it. I enjoy providing bereaved individuals the safety and understanding necessary to cope with loss, while finding hope and new meaning in life.

Theoretically I use an eclectic approach, evaluating the needs of my clients and using the most appropriate techniques and interventions. I draw most heavily from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Jungian Analytical Psychology, Person-Centered Theory, and Existential Theory. I try to make my clients feel as comfortable as possible, and I believe witnessing is an important part of the therapeutic process. I work to promote the holistic health of my clients and help them to determine effective self-care strategies including exercise, nutrition, and creative processes just to name a few.

I look forward to supporting you on your path to health and wholeness!

Rebecca is very caring and does not judge what I have to say. She reflects what I’m saying and is able to give me a better grasp of my reality in an unbiased way. She is smart and patient and kind.
