About me

Hi, I'm Regina Williams! I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (#10186), a National Certified Counselor (NCC; #305134), and a counselor educator living in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area. I received my Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education from North Carolina State University and I have ten years of counseling experience. I work with individuals and their families who may be experiencing a wide range of mental health, personal, and career-related concerns, helping them to achieve emotional wellness and balance in their everyday lives.

Using various therapeutic approaches based on clients’ needs, I use cognitive-behavioral therapy, reality therapy, or solution-focused therapy, with a person-centered focus, to help them work through their challenges. I focus on helping individuals create a workable plan that is specific to their needs and engage in an evaluation process of this plan, establishing a collaborative relationship in developing and achieving set goals. I provide structured counseling with an emphasis on having unconditional positive regard for clients where they are given the opportunity to grow and gain insight in a safe and supportive environment. I also believe it is important to evaluate clients’ progress in counseling, and if needed, change a plan or goal through mutual agreement. Our ultimate goal together would be to help you make the positive changes needed to live a more fulfilling life. Additionally, I would be a good match for anyone who is seeking a counselor of color, someone who is looking for a safe space to share their concerns, or anyone who is experiencing a life transition such as those related to career/work, parenting/caregiving, or interpersonal relationships.

I look forward to potentially working with you and helping you to achieve holistic wellness!

Dr. Williams is an extremely kind and attentive counselor who is always very accommodating on meeting times and allowed me to fit counseling into my busy schedule. She provided insightful advice and not only helped me with my romantic relationship issues, but also enabled me to better understand and manage my friendships and my career aspirations. She's also not afraid to lay out hard truths, inquiring about the smaller problems that exist on the fringes of our lives that are easy to ignore until someone else addresses them. Dr. Williams is wonderful and friendly and I highly recommend her.
