About Me
First, I want to say "bravo" to you for taking the first step in getting help! That by far is the most difficult step. I know starting therapy can create so much anxiety, which is why I believe my first job is to help you feel more comfortable as we begin to work together. With me, you can count on feeling accepted and validated as you are. I will help you understand why you developed those behaviors you believe are problematic in order to help you feel better about you and your choices in life.
During therapy, I prefer to work with a person in a collaborative manner. While I may know tools and techniques to help you get better, you are the expert on you. Thus, I want you to be comfortable with the goals we choose to tackle, so you have the final say on those goals. The frameworks I use include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment theory, and Somatic Experiencing (i.e., a body-focused form of therapy). Much of who we are as adults is learned through our relationships (i.e., our attachments) when we are children and guide how we interact with people as adults. Some of these experiences may result in faulty ways of thinking (e.g., "I can't do this."). Also, people may not learn how they are feeling, so they may know they feel bad but not know why. These are all things we can learn or improve on in therapy. As you learn to connect with yourself better, you will be able to have better relationships with the people in your life.
I am licensed in the state of Virginia. Please note that my listed hours for online or phone therapy are times I have set to be available. However, my time is flexible, so if those times do not work for you, we can agree on other times that are mutually convenient. I look forward to working with you!

Dr. Brush is awesome.
Dr. Brush it’s amazing and I’m glad she is my counselor.
Dr. Brush is a wonderfully empathetic counselor. She takes the time to understand my problem, helps me discover new ways to think about it, and uses her depth of professional knowledge to help me make plans to address my issues. I think the world of her.
Dr. Brush is great! She is very kind, works on my schedule to chat when she can, and responds as timely as she can with her own life! Her “real life limits” as I call them stil allow her talk to plenty on chat :)
Dr. Brush has truly been wonderful with her expertise, concern, and follow-up. I highly recommend her.
Dr. Brush is phenomenal. I've only been working with her for... about 2 weeks now, I think? But, I've seen such a change in myself that I don't even recognize who I was before then. I still have a long way to go, but I trust Dr. Brush to help me get to where I want to be.
