About Me

Hello. I have practiced in the healing arts for the past 12 years helping people develop a clearer mind/body connection. I embarked on a career in counseling 5 years ago to help people strengthen their connection with themselves. I view the counseling process as an alliance between client and therapist and considers the client as the experts of their lives. Within the structure of the therapeutic relationship, clients can access their inner strengths and promote change. My theoretic approach is based on the belief that clients oversee their counseling experience. They will learn the aspects of their life that they can control and what they cannot. Clients will understand that the therapeutic relationship is a partnership in which they will be expected to put in the effort for homework, be accountable, and present within counseling alliance. My goal as a counselor is to provide a safe environment where we can explore your primary interests, develop goals, and determines strengths and assets as you move toward your aspirations.

I earned a M. Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Clemson University, in Clemson, SC. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) , Psycho-Educational Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. My areas of specialized training and expertise include anxiety, depression, adjustment in the wake of divorce, survivors of trauma, and people in recovery from alcohol and drugs. I have formal training in co-occurring substance abuse disorders.

Rhonda has been a great help to me and my journey to improving my mental health. She will do exercises to help you understand certain topics better and give you ideas that help you make little steps towards feeling better.

Rhonda was the best therapist I have ever had--she was what I needed at the time I needed her. I was suffering from anxiety and couldn't escape the racing thoughts. She helped me understand the voice inside my head, and provided a lot of practical solutions. She provided me with reference materials and actionable items. I got to such a great place, I was able to move on after 5 visits and feel really good about where I'm at. I know I can always return if things change. Thank you Rhonda for everything! 10/10 Will recommend Rhonda to anyone seeking therapy. From our very first session Rhonda gave me so much help and together we built a foundation for my therapy experience. I left that first conversation feeling so good and made progress thereafter! She came to our conversations very open, kind, considerate, and asked me what my therapy goals were. Throughout our time together, she listened to me, allowed me to vent and provided actual solutions that helped me in my day to day. I enjoyed our time together very much.

I have been so grateful to work with Rhonda. She has brought a professional perspective with an empathetic approach that I’ve needed. Rhonda Johnson is a very professional, insightful and considerate therapist.
