About me

I am a Professional Counselor (Clinical Mental Health Counselor) licensed in Tennessee and North Carolina with over 30 years of experience working as a mental health/behavioral health therapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including LGBTQIA (I'm gay), gender dysphoria, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief, dual diagnosis (mental health and addiction), career challenges, family of origin issues, self-esteem, and more. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.

My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, mindfulness, psychodynamic and rational-emotive therapy. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life, and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Dr. Hellman has been very helpful for me. She listens, validates, offers ideas, and generally helps me to keep myself grounded. She seems well versed in neurodivergence, LGBTQ, trauma, and nervous system dysregulations and has many tips for those areas!

I just love Dr. Ricci. She is just what I needed to re-kickstart my mental health healing journey. She is truly an active listener and I appreciate her giving me the nudge and confidence to reach out to my doctor for further support. I literally feel a weight lifted off my shoulders after we speak. I get to say whatever is on my brain without of fear of judgement. We have only had 2 sessions thus far and I am thoroughly pleased and plan to keep therapy going with her for at least 3 months.

Dr. Hellman is the best therapist i’ve ever talked to. She is very understanding, gives great feedback, and makes me feel valid and heard. I feel that I have improved so much since we started this journey. Not only does she listen to me, she gives me the tools to improve myself every day.
