About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed in the State of Texas. I have been providing counseling services to individuals, couples, families and groups, for the past 14 years. My main experience has been in helping clients work through depression, anxiety, anger states, and grief/loss. I believe that connected relationships are the key to a healthier and happier life, so much of my focus with clients is on improving important relationships, which includes both personal and professional (work) relationships.

Over the past 7 years, much of my counseling practice has been focused on helping married couples create healthier, more connected, and more satisfying marriages. I also have much experience in helping families work through divorce, and in blending families together following divorce. In addition to gaining much valuable clinical experience over the years, I also have much experience with family relationships at a personal level.

My wife and I have been married for 25 years, and have 4 wonderful children. As we begin our work together, we will focus on what you want, what you value, and what is important to you; and we will create a plan to make it happen. My approach involves utilizing a variety of cognitive/behavioral techniques, which focuses on changes in thinking and behavior, which will get your life moving in the way you would like it to, while also impacting your feelings in a positive way. I look forward to working with you.

Richard is a gifted counselor! He listens intently and is able to discern the motivations behind the behavior. He gives clear concise steps on how to manage situations. He helps me look at my own behaviors and challenges me to adopt wisdom into my actions and my words.

Richard is a very good listener and has already begun helping me move past some major issues. As someone with my own degree in psychology, it is often hard for me to find someone that does not feel like they are just doing a job and not really helping, Richard is different and has focused on me and not textbooks.
