About me

Hello,
Thank you for reviewing my information and I hope all is well. A little about my background; I have been working in the behavioral health field now for over 18 years. My core work started as a primary counselor in the addiction and mental health field, where I eventually rose up through the ranks into executive and senior management for some of the nation's foremost, well known, and trail blazing addiction and co-occurring disorder treatment agencies. I have experience in assisting clients through a wide range of areas, including alcohol and substance use disorders, other forms of addiction (e.g. gambling), depression, anxiety, family and "significant other" relationship issues, co-dependency, trauma related matters, parenting problems, and overall life and career challenges.
Recently I have been at the table with some of the national leaders in helping to establish standards for newer emerging practices, such as recovery coaching and peer mentoring. In addition to being trained and certified as a recovery coach and trainer, I also have implemented cutting edge clinical interventions for programs on Motivational Interviewing (MI); the Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA); multiple models of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); and for trauma- an evidenced based practice called "Seeking Safety". As you see, the therapy field tends to be "addicted" themselves to two things-asking questions and naming Acronyms for their interventions!
In regards to family work, I am certified in Functional Family Therapy and trained in Structural Family Therapy, and I've focused for many years on empowering families and couples through these interventions. My private practice draws upon the wealth of knowledge and cases I've experienced which has led to a style of working with people that is person centered, motivational, and geared towards helping individuals and families move towards positive change.
All of the above information basically leads to one point; that I have been working successfully with people for many years. My clinical style is eclectic, as I draw from the wide range of theory, practice and experiential insight I have gained throughout my career. I have learned that there is no one therapy that works best for everyone-regardless of the therapists background and training. So you may ask, why do I say this?
The fact is that the more tools a therapist has in their tool belt, the better prepared they are to meet your needs and demands. I also know that when it comes down to therapy, the expert in your own situation is YOU; and you just might need someone to listen to you and walk you through the process. By the way, I happen to have that large tool belt needed to assist you in this process.
However, that first step is often the hardest, especially when one must look inward. I will be there for you, and can help facilitate and guide you toward making healthy decisions, working through areas of concern, and learning more about who you are; and what makes you happy and healthy. My commitment to you then is this: I will utilize my knowledge, strength, abilities and experience to help you realize your full potential!
I look forward to working with you.
Thank you and all the best,
Robert Anderson, LCSW-R, CASAC, CRPA, CARC

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Robert Anderson. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I've been working with Robert for the past 5+ weeks and I have found his approach to be very helpful. Thanks to Robert, I have been able to manage the stress and anxiety I have experienced while working to overcome my dependance to marijuana. I'd recommend him for anyone going through the same experience as myself.

It has been so easy and comfortable talking with him and letting him help and figure out whats wrong. It was very helpful to go through this with the support of Robert.
I will never forget his understanding and help.

I'm happy with Robert Anderson. I admit I was skeptical of this "online therapy", but I think it is starting to work. At the very least (since I've only been doing this a few weeks) I feel I have built up a trust with him.

I am so happy with Robert! He is always so attentive and is careful with my feelings. He makes me aware of my reactions. He's the reason I journal almost every day!
