I am a licensed clinical social worker and have been providing individual and group therapy for nearly ten years. Over the past decade, I’ve provided much support and counseling to a wide range of people struggling through the many transitions that accompany the ordinary life. My experience spans from identifying triggers to distressing and uncomfortable feelings including depression and anxiety and work to develop, identify, and utilizing different techniques to feel better. Additionally, I’ve worked to help improve interpersonal and communication skills, identify ways to strengthen relationships between people, process through day-to-day struggles like career challenges or even assisting people to process through the various stages of grief feeling following the loss of a loved one.
When counseling people, I tend to take a more warm and calming approach. I like to collaborate with who I’m working with to identify the areas where he or she is struggling and together, develop ways to work through them. From a theoretical standpoint, I tend to favor an object relations approach with a combination of brief-solution focused and strengths perspective. Essentially, this means that I help people to better understanding why they sometimes experience strong feelings and fall into similar patterns without knowing why even if they are sometimes distressing.
Speaking from a personal perspective, asking for help and assistance can be a very difficult thing. The fact that you’re here makes me happy to see that you’ve made the first step and I look forward to working together to get through the difficult times.
