About Me
I am so glad you are taking the first step towards improving your emotional well-being. I look forward to connecting with you and helping you meet your goals.
My name is Robin Livingston-Richter. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of experience working with teenagers, young adults, adults and parents. I've had the privilege of working with clients in various settings including hospitals, day treatment centers, shelters, outpatient clinics, and private practice.
I am a validating, solution-oriented therapist who uses cognitive behavioral therapy technique. I also teach mindfulness/intentional living. I am also a certified ADHD Life Coach and teach success strategies to help students, parents, and employees thrive.
I am also the co-founder of Mental Health Navigators, a non-profit organization helping parents and caring adults who have a child living with a mental health condition. Through this I also facilitate a virtual parenting group for parents of teenagers.
I live in Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota graduate school in 1993. When I am not connecting with clients, I love to exercise, listen to music, spend time outdoors, travel, and spend time with my husband, two adult children, and my dogs. I am a huge sports fan and enjoy cheering for my local teams.

Robin is empathetic and super thoughtful and caring to my needs she has helped me though so much in the past two months she’s a blessing
She's the real deal. Thank you Robin.
Incredibly accommodating and ability to connect is much appreciated!
First time therapy goer here. I was so very lucky to be paired with Robin on the first try. We have been working together since 2020 and it has been an amazing experience. She is so positive, validating, and really understanding. For someone who does not get much affirmation in their life, having Robin acknowledge me has been so helpful and rewarding. Our conversations are always so engaging and I always look forward to our weekly video chats. I highly recommend working with her.
Robin is very helpful and I enjoy working with her. She listens and gives good advice. Her feedback is very helpful in my daily life.
Robin has been amazing to work with. She really listens and provides great feedback. I also like how she gives me worksheets to read after our sessions. I am able to get a deeper understanding of a topic we may have discussed, and it really helps me to further focus on it.
I was nervous about starting an online type of counseling and also with a whole new therapist, but Robin makes you feel very comfortable and welcome! She asks questions to make you think and process that help guide you into what you can do to better yourself. I appreciate the few sessions I had with her, I decided I needed to take a break on counseling, simply because work and life in general had been too hectic for me to concentrate on this aspect of my life. When I let Robin know this, she was very supportive and didn’t make me feel guilty or worry about this decision. She’s very experienced in what she does and I think she’s great to work with!
My experience of working with Robin has been such a gift. I’m grateful for her expertise, positivity and the safe place at each session. She helped me work through my anger and the things behind them - communication in a difficult family situation, fears about parenting and my past, and coached me in developing my strengths and self esteem. Difficult circumstances are still in my life, and I have grown in courage and confidence in my ability to face them.
She has always timely with message responses. I’ve only had one video session, but she has made me feel extremely comfortable.
Robin truly helped me out in a time I needed it. I have never tried online counseling or therapy in general but this was such a wonderful and eye opening experience. I feel so much more capable to deal with the situations I face not only in my day to day, but in my head as well. I am extremely grateful I had the chance to work with her.
Robin is a great listener. She helps me organize my thoughts and create plans to accomplish my goals. She is so positive and motivating! I appreciate Robin so much!
This was my first experience with a counselor, I felt a little nervous opening up to a ‘stranger’ but Robin had such a calming and accepting manner that I felt comfortable right away. I sought out counseling because I was having a hard time finding myself and what I needed. Robin helped me to identify my values and personal strengths which helped me to uncover my inner truth and know how to live it out fully.
Robin has helped me exponentially while working with her. She is incredibly easy to connect with and truly cares about her clients. She took the time to get to know me and understand my perspectives. She is incredibly friendly and fun to talk to. I genuinely looked forward to our video sessions every week. She asked me tough questions I wasn't able to ask myself. She provided numerous tools to assist me in my development. Overall, I felt Robin truly cared about me as a person and wanted to see me improve. She validated all of my feelings and helped my understand why I was feeling the way I was. She celebrated along with me as I grew into a better heart/ head space. I will definitely only ever work with Robin through BetterHelp.
Robin is very kind, and actually LISTENS to what her clients are saying! She is very easy to talk to and she validates your thoughts/feelings.
