About me

I received a master’s degree in clinical social work and became licensed (LCSW) in 2008. In addition, I have been a certified chemical dependency counselor (CADC II) since 1996. Currently, in private practice, I continue to develop innovative approaches to chemical dependency/ co-occurring disorders by fully integrating Dialectical Behavioral Training (DBT) skills and relapse prevention skills.

Having worked in the field of addictive disorders for over twenty years working with diverse clientele and in variety treatment settings has allowed me to gain a plethora of experiences, skills and resources. I have developed highly attended enriched family programs and specializes in co-occurring disorders. For the past ten years my practice has included facilitating nurse diversion groups for San Mateo and Santa Clara County, appointed by the Board of Registered Nursing. I have served on the Board of the National Council of Alcoholism and Drug Dependence and am an active member of both the National Association of Social Workers and California Association for Drugs and Alcoholism.

I strongly believe that healing is possible for all people regardless of culture, background, beliefs, social status or experiences. I work with clients to identify motivational factors and core beliefs that assist individuals/families in realizing their goals and full potential respectively. My therapeutic approach is eclectic in that experiential, cognitive-behavioral insight oriented, experiential therapy augmented by DBT and Radically Open DBT treatment are employed predominately.

Ultimately my goal is to successfully demonstrate how to increase overall therapeutic outcomes for trauma, depression, anxiety as well as recovery rates and reduce relapse/recidivism rates that often accompanies addictive disorders. I am very passionate about this work and remain a strong advocate for personal systemic and political change to destigmatize addictive disorders.

Specializations include individual, couples and family therapy.
