Dr. Ronnie Martin
About me
Hi I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina. I am also a National Certified Counselor and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I have been a mental health clinician for 27 years. I received my Masters of Social Work and a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from East Carolina University. I also earned a PhD in social work from the University of South Carolina. I am currently teaching as an adjunct faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP). I taught social work as an associate professor and program director for 15 years before retiring from UNCP. I returned to teach as an adjunct faculty member at UNCP in 2012 where I remain.
I specialize in the treatment of anxiety and depression. I also conduct couples counseling for those who are experiencing marital or partner issues. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and motivational interviewing in working with individuals and couples. But most of all I use just plain common sense in relating to people. I believe in assigning homework to my clients between sessions as it gives them the opportunity to continue to work on their issues before we meet again.
I look forward to working with you in helping you become the person you want to be!
