Hi, my name is Ruthie and I'd love to tell you more about myself. I grew up in South Florida but spent the last 15 years living in New York City. I have always been the type of person that loves to help others. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. I do not have one particular speciality because I have worked with many different populations with various problems including: anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, parenting issues, impulsivity, behavior disorders, and career transitions. I don't have a particular style when working with clients. I like to think of myself as integrative and holistic. What does this mean exactly? It means that I take you, your personality, and your needs into consideration when deciding which approach to take. I believe that "one size does not fit all." I think the counseling relationship is a collaboration of ideas. I want to know what you think is a priority in your life. I also think in addition to traditional "talk therapy," there are other tools that can be very helpful in your life. For example, I'm a big believer that exercise, diet, and meditation can have a tremendously positive impact in your life, especially if you are struggling with anxiety/depression. These tools have helped me personally in my own life! Sometimes it's helpful to approach your recovery from different perspectives.
I've spent the last 20 years working in urban education settings. You could also say I'm a child and adolescent expert! I provided individual and group counseling for students with myriad issues such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Many students came to me not because they were required to get counseling, but because they simply enjoyed talking to me; they knew they could tell me anything and I would be understanding and nonjudgmental. In addition to working with students, I worked frequently with parents and staff. I often met with parents to teach them proactive methods for managing their child's behaviors. I also provided an extensive array of parent workshops. I conducted many professional development trainings for teachers and school staff covering topics such as classroom management, coping with stress, and bullying interventions.
Previous clients describe me as very kind, empathetic, nonjudgemental, and caring. Counseling is in my blood, it's all I have ever done and I feel as passionate about it today as I did when I started 20 years ago. I'd love to help you on your journey of self-discovery and healing. I look forward to meeting you and working together.

I have worked with Ruthie for a fairly short time, but already feel very comfortable and open with her. I usually am not this way, so it is clearly the approach and the attentiveness from her that allows me to be so open. I look forward to our conversations and to knowing that someone that genuinely cares and pays attention to the details can give such sound advice to me. I would recommend Ruthie to anyone that needs someone to talk to and lean on.
Since day 1, Ruthie has been extremely intuitive to what is going on in my life. She always listens and is excellent at giving advice. She never pressures me into making decisions and I am blessed to be working with her! Glad I made this investment and getting the answers I need!
Right from the start, Ruthie has been attentive and compassionate. Once we got past the initial back and forth of getting to know each other and how we both think, everything became so smooth and easy. She responds quickly with very kindly and caring responses and ideas to help. I'm very pleased with how she works with me so far.
Ruthie is kind, supportive and understanding. She is a great counselor.
