I am a marriage and family therapist licensed in California with over 25 years of experience. I have been in private practice for 19 years and have worked in a variety of public agencies as well. I offer a supportive, open and trusting environment to facilitate desired growth and change within the individual and/or the family. My counseling style is honest and direct and I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.
While I have worked with people on a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, affairs, sexuality, infertility, divorce, grief and loss etc., I do have specialized training in couples, parenting issues and co-parenting. I trained in Imago Therapy, which focuses on the relationship rather than the individual. I am also certified in Positive Discipline, which supports raising self-reliant and responsible children with a positive approach. I also have experience working with cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. With this eclectic theoretical background, I will be able to tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
I believe that one of the key ingredients to successful therapy is having a good connection with your therapist. If you develop a trusting relationship with your therapist, you will do better work. I encourage people to interview therapists until they find the right fit. Once you have the right fit, growth and change are possible!
