About me
I’m often asked what led me to a career in counseling. At the core, my answer is wrapped around a genuine desire to help others navigate the many layers of life and the often times uncharted emotional experiences that go with it. My work as a therapist allows me to step into the essence of who I am and offers my clients an opportunity to do the same in their own lives. My approach in therapy is guided by my belief that each of us has an innate ability to become the healthiest and best version of ourselves individually and in relationships.
Early in my career I worked as a school counselor in a secondary school setting, providing academic, social/emotional, and college guidance. That experience, combined with my work at Memorial Hermann’s Prevention and Recovery Center for Drug and Alcohol Addiction and, later, at The Davis Clinic for Surgical and Non-Surgical Weight Loss, served as the catalyst for my interest in core issues related to self-esteem, boundaries, shame, imperfections, and other barriers to discovering one’s True Self. Following extensive trainings with Terry Real (2010-2012) and Pia Mellody (2011-2013), I have concentrated much of my practice on in-depth explorations of the origins of these core issues and, most importantly, how to help clients understand their past without getting stuck in the present. As a Certified Daring Way Facilitator ™ (CDWF), I work extensively with Brene´ Browne’s Daring Way Curriculum focusing on Shame Resiliency.
Drawing from my training as a counselor and coach, I will work with you to understand the underlying reasons behind your discomfort. Together, we will find effective and practical solutions to help you break free from the hamster wheel of disappointment. I am committed to providing a therapeutic experience that is supportive, collaborative, and tailored to each of my clients' unique needs and personality. Whether you feel overwhelmed with everyday struggles or stuck in the shadows of longer-term turmoil, there is hope. I believe you will find it here.
