Welcome, and thank you for your interest in learning more about me! My name is Samantha and I am a licensed mental health counselor in Florida. I have had over 17 years experience working in the mental health field. I have worked in a variety of settings including office-based, residential, outpatient, in-home, addictions programs as well as telehealth. Although that seems like a mouthful, it simply means that I have had experience working with a broad range and varying levels of severity of clinical issues. I have the most experience working with anxiety, depression, family/relationship conflicts, parenting issues, and complex trauma/abuse. I also have some experience working with intellectual/developmental disabilities, and autism.
I use a person-centered, holistic, and multicultural approach in treatment. I will do my best to begin where you are and tailor the treatment approach to your needs while being sensitive to how your own personal cultural identity and lifestyle choices impact your experience. I primarily use evidence based techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling. I would describe my style as warm and supportive. Together we can work on establishing goals and steps to help you overcome your current challenges or stressors. I believe in taking time and working on wellness slowly, holistically, and consistently. Just as physical health takes time, focus, and consistency, so does mental health!
