About me
Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to check out my profile. You have a lot of options and finding the right fit is so important. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed in Florida, with over 10 years of experience. You don't have to be coupled or dealing with family issues for me to work with you, it simply means I have a unique perspective when it comes to my clients and what brought them to reach out to me.
I have worked with people who have a variety of reasons why they are seeking help, from growing pains, and relationship problems to substance use issues. My primary work has been with individuals and their families as they navigate the challenges of mental health issues (depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder) and substance use issues. My passion is assisting people to minimize the effects of these issues through learning coping strategies and then focus on building a balanced life that protects them from future crises.
I believe that each client I work with has their own strengths, ones that in the face of their problems have been overshadowed or buried. My role is to help you rediscover those and build up previously undiscovered strengths so that you can move forward into the life you dream.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Samantha Toney. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Sam is incredibly patient and respectful. She has helped me find a number of accommodations to improve my day to day life. It takes me some time to process a lot of the lessons I still need to learn to be a more emotionally rounded individual but she continually helps guide me and reminds me of ways to be a better person despite my stubborn kicking and screaming some weeks. Sam listens well and works hard to create a therapy experience best suited for those she helps. Anyone would be lucky to be fit into her schedule.

I didn't really know what to expect when starting out with doing therapy. Let alone virtually. I have learned a lot about the process and have real expectations for my sessions with Samantha and have grown to feel more open to bring vulnerable with my past, my emotions, and my inner thoughts. Samantha provides me with really great support and feedback and sprinkles on ways for me to take accountability or moments to reflect and identify outside influences and my item inner feelings. I could go on, but I look forward to many more sessions.

Samantha always pays attention and gives very good advice. I go on a lot of tangents and she makes sure to understand every bit of my story.

Samantha Toney is exactly what I needed to help me work through my issues especially with family and the lenses in which I have been programmed to use. She is good at debunking the complexities of life experiences and give me perspectives that I may not have caught on to. I am so grateful and know I will refer her and/or continue to seek her help as needed. I really lucked out this time - HIGHLY RECOMMEND !

I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to connect with and open up to a counselor over video call, but it was clear from my first session with Samantha that I had struck therapy gold. Samantha is a kind and generous listener; who also knows when and how to suggest solutions or provide insight. I’ve had therapists in the past who hide behind their credentials, nodding and taking notes, and asking leading questions, but never really connecting. In my opinion, this leads to a power dynamic where the client feels inferior. Samantha makes me feel as if we are partners striving together towards my well-being. She provides her expertise, I provide the honesty, and together we’ve made great strides.
