I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Wyoming and have worked in counseling for the past four years. I have worked with individuals suffering from a wide range of mental health concerns, such as depression, anxiety, substance dependence, relationship issues, trauma, abuse, and personality disorders. I have experience in both the private sector in community mental health and in working with Veterans struggling with PTSD.
I would describe my counseling style as multifaceted as I combine multiple approaches to help clients with their presenting problems. I utilize elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, existential therapy, and brief psychodynamic therapy. I have also received formal training to provide cognitive processing therapy, an evidence based protocol that is used as a frontline treatment for trauma by Veterans Affairs. Although I have experience with a number of different approaches to counseling, I believe that success in therapy depends on the strength of the therapeutic relationship. I will work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan that will be tailor fit to your goals.

Samuel McCune is an amazing man and therapist. Anyone who has the opportunity to work with him needs to do it. In my experience Working with Sam, he is always personal and considerate and honest. And in no way does working with him ever feel like a money transfer or like he is merely waiting for the clock to run out. Sam Is no push over, and will call you on your bull, but in a spiritual guide kind of a way. He is a truly gifted person and anybody who is suffering or just looking for help should turn to him.

It's a pleasure for me to highly recommend Sam to anyone who may be seeking any form of counseling. Although I've only known Sam for a short time, I could tell in our first session he was a gifted therapist. He's has a calming influence and it's very apparent that he cares deeply about his work and clients. I've been impressed with his knowledge base and ability to get to the core of an issue in a short amount of time. What I also appreciate about Sam is he is providing me things I can actually work on throughout the week. When I've sought therapy in the past it seemed we didn't do much else but talk about things. This alone can be beneficial, but I would always be left with a feeling of 'I understand the issue, but what can I take action to do about it?' From our First session on Sam has given me attainable things to work on throughout the week. As I say I've only known Sam a short time, but I can tell you I'm already better off having worked with him thus far. Before I signed up I had my doubts about how effective online counseling could be. I've been very pleasantly surprised in connecting with Sam on my first try. Thank you for making these types of resources available, I wish I would have signed up sooner.
