I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental health Service Provider in TN with over 13 years post graduate clinical experience working with a wide range of clients ranging in age from infant through geriatric. My experience includes working with clients dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, family conflicts, life changes, adjustment disorder, anger management, and parenting. Sometimes events like transitions, trauma, loss, and adjustment to divorce or limited social support trigger difficulties. As a result, conflicts, depression, anxiety, emotional outbursts, academic decline, isolation, addiction or other risky behaviors can emerge. I support clients as they overcome these challenges. I believe in the capacity to grow, change, and move towards self-identified goals.
I believe in treating every person with respect and dignity. My approach is honest and open minded, seeing the counseling process as a collaborative process between myself and clients. This collaboration is based on the establishment of a safe and trusting relationship between counselor and client. From this foundation, we are able to explore social, emotional, and behavioral patterns so as to better understand the obstacles that are holding you back from living a full and meaningful life. I see it as my job to provide you with both support and challenge as you engage in the task of facing and addressing those obstacles.
My approach to psychotherapy is integrative and focuses on the therapy relationship, incorporating meditation/mindfulness practices, self-acceptance, development of coping skills, and repairing relationships. I draw from many approaches, including evidence-based practices such as person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Child-parent psychotherapy. Over the years, I have found a therapeutic style that feels genuine and organic for me. Clients typically appreciate my genuine compassion, authenticity, safety, and humor.
Counseling takes courage and I'm so glad you're here!

Sandra has helped me through so many tough issues and many of my friends ask about why I'm doing so good and I relay Sandra to the reasoning
My therapist is absolutely incredible and I am so lucky to be matched with her.
Sandra was very intuitive and helped me in exactly the way I was seeking.
Sandra made me feel comfortable immediately. She made me laugh and feel heard.
She is very intelligent in helping with anxiety/panic and bipolar.
Sandra is a fantastic counselor and I have learned so much about myself thanks to her amazing expertise. Every conversation with her is a real pleasure and leaves me feeling understood and with something that I'm excited to think about. Sandra is also simply one of the nicest people I have met in my life. Thank you, Sandra!
Sandra is very easy to talk to and makes me feel very comfortable and safe in sharing my thoughts and feelings. I look forward to our session every week.
Sandra has been a a breath of fresh air. She has helped me more in a short time than any other therapist I have worked with. She really gets it.
Sandra is a breath of fresh air. She makes me feel so comfortable sharing anything. I always feel safe when talking with Sandra and she is so thoughtful and respectful. I've made so much progress in the short time I've been working with her, which says a lot about her amazing skills! I am so grateful to have been matched with her!
Sandra is very friendly and easy to open up to. This is my first time doing therapy and she has made it easier than I thought it would be :)
In the short time I’ve known Sandra Fields, she’s made a great difference in my life by opening my eyes and teaching me how to handle my depression and anxiety. I’m so grateful for her guidance, and I look forward to continuing to work with her.
Dr. Fields has helped me so much in such a short amount of time. I’ve so grateful that this website and collection of psychiatrists exists! Dr. Fields helped me quickly identify what I needed to work on and changed strategies when a certain type of therapy didn’t really appeal to me.
Sandra is warm, experienced, friendly, and a pleasure to talk to. I feel comfortable sharing with her and confident that I am being well taken care of.
We have only just started working together but I was immediately put at ease by Sandra's professionalism, expertise, and receptivity. She is a tremendously empathetic listener and adept at gently steering conversations towards helpful insights and effectively intervenes to promote healthy thought patterns. I'm new to Better Help--and was very skeptical of this platform after experiencing traditional therapy--but I am pleasantly surprised, even impressed, by tele-therapy and particularly impressed by Sandra... In fact, I consider myself very lucky to have matched with a counselor that provides such an outstanding fit and such open, approachable, and valuable feedback.
I highly recommend Sandra Fields. In the two sessions that I have had with Sandra so far, I have learned so much. I am already using tools that she has taught me in my everyday life. She has a very calm and caring demeanor and an incredible amount of experience and knowledge in the field. It is clear she is passionate about helping others and truly cares about you as an individual.
I really like my counselor Sandra! She’s really great and solving situations in others lives, and works with you to come up with plans on how to solve them in a gentle, loving way!
