Hello,
I began my adult career by studying the natural world, and working in natural resources management for over a decade. Later, I decided to go back to school to study psychology. There are several ways in which my natural resources experiences have influenced my counseling style.
I am trauma-informed, have experience working with clients who suffer from depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance addiction, familial crises, and mood disorders.
My approach is client-centered and my therapeutic modalities of choice include Choice Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy. I use Motivational Interviewing and Short-term Solution Focused therapy to help clients learn coping skills they can use to enhance the quality of their lives.
Additional areas of focus: LGBT, Relationship issues, Family conflicts, Grief, Parenting issues, Self esteem, Bipolar disorder, Coping with life changes, Abandonment, Attachment Issues, Blended Family Issues, Caregiver Issues and Stress, Co-morbidity, Codependency, Commitment Issues, Communication Problems, Control Issues, Coping with Natural or Human-Caused Disaster, Dependent Personality, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), Divorce and Separation, Domestic Violence, Drug and Alcohol Addiction, Emptiness, Family Problems, Fatherhood Issues, First Responder Issues, Forgiveness, Gender Dysphoria, Guilt and Shame, Hoarding, Infidelity, Isolation/Loneliness, Jealousy, Life Purpose, Men's Issues, Midlife Crisis, Money and Financial Issues, Mood Disorders, Multicultural Concerns, Panic Disorder and Panic Attacks, Phobias, Post-traumatic Stress, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), Self-Love, Sexuality, Smoking/Vaping Cessation, Social Anxiety and Phobia, Traumatic Brain Injury, Women's Issues, Workplace Issues
