My name is Sara and I have a Masters of Arts degree in Counseling, as well as a background in Criminal Justice. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has worked in various settings including clinical mental health centers, juvenile detention centers, and schools. My primary experience has been young adults and family counseling. I have been working in the Criminal Justice field since 2013 and the Counseling field since 2017. I greatly enjoy lending a hand to those in need. It is truly my calling.
I have worked with all ages with issues related to anxiety, depression, grief, and anger. I went into this field because I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder as a teenager. Because of my own struggles, I can identify and be compassionate for those that have also walked the path I have. At the very least, I want you to know that you’re not alone in your struggles. There are people who understand and who will listen. I am one of them.
It takes a significant amount of courage to look at yourself; your real self. Thank you for being here and for being willing to open up your world to endless possibilities of wellness.
My theoretical orientations are eclectic in nature; I enjoy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, Dialectrical Behavioral Therapy/DBT, as well as Person/Client-Centered Therapy. Basically I like to take a look at your thoughts and show you how powerful they are with relation to your feelings and behavior. I like to do this in a way that is non-judgmental and displays unconditional positive regard.
I like to do the psychoeducation mental health tip of the week that I usually send out on Mondays and Thursdays. They are practical tips to help you balance your mood. So far, the mental health tips of the week have involved eating more dark chocolate, drinking more coffee, more water, the importance of D.O.S.E. (dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphin) in the body, as well as tips on how to manage your life and de-escalate your stress.
With you, I also like to send an inspirational fact or quote of the week as well, which will usually be sent out with the psychoeducation tips. One of my favorites is, "The sun will rise tomorrow and even in your darkest hour, light will shine on you to show you the way. You have to believe."
Looking forward to meeting you.

I have tried therapy numerous times in many years. Sara is the first to suggest new ideas to me and helps me feel proud of the small accomplishments. I was sure I had tried it all before meeting her, but she has shown me multiple new things and I feel that I finally have hope.

I've been with Sara about 2 months now, and she is honestly incredible.
Not only is she discussing my issues with me, listening to my worries, and helping me find ways to fix them; she is also a great laugh, always ready to make you smile and has a smoothie for every situation.
I am so grateful for everything she's doing to help me. Thanks Sara, you're a legend!

I love having her and I'm glad I finally got myself help for my own problems
