About me

Hi - my name is Sarah and I've had the privilege to work as a licensed professional counselor within the Jackson community and across the state of Wyoming for 13 years. I say privilege because I really do think the process of opening up, being vulnerable, being SEEN and asking for help often takes a ton of courage and isn't often a natural inclination. No matter why you're here, I'm glad you are.

I'm a big believer in the beauty of how different we all are and the complexity of the commonalities that make us all human. I think that deep self-acceptance works wonders and that just because others may want us to be different or we might want to change some behaviors doesn't mean there's something fundamentally flawed about who we are. Life is NOT easy so therefore, my specialties include stress management, workplace conflict, skill building (emotional regulation, executive functioning), grief/loss, life transitions, perinatal mood disorders, mindfulness, depression, anxiety, career counseling, utilizing creativity/art, women's issues, trauma, substance abuse and addiction.

In my time as a therapist, every training and every experience continues to confirm the reason why I became a counselor in the first place: change and relief happen within safe, trustworthy and compassionate relationships. Everyone needs different things from therapy and we'll work together to figure out where we need to go and how we're going to get there. I can do any length of therapy, whether we meet for a short period and focus on solving specific problems/making difficult decisions or we decide to meet regularly for awhile and do some deeper work. Because the relationship between us is where we'll do a lot of the work, I focus a lot on what's happening in the moment - what you're feeling and thinking - so we address things as they come up in real time. That's often really helpful in navigating the challenges happening outside of our time together.

It’s likely that if we work together, we’ll laugh, cry when you need to (I might too), maybe even have some conflict here and there…but, it’ll be real work and I’ll gladly be by your side the whole way. I'm not here to fix your life or to tell you what to do, but I am here to hold up a mirror as you decide what's working, what isn't and what you want and need for your life.

One last thing - you'll notice that I have "open" slots on my calendar for you to book. However, I ask that you connect with me via message before scheduling. My availability is often much wider open than those slots indicate and I prefer for us to talk through scheduling before we commit to a time.

I am so thankful for betterhelp.com, for matching me with someone I feel confident in. Sarah is so clearly knowledgable, as well as a kind and understanding professional. I feel as at ease as I can be, talking about things that are difficult to share.

Sarah has been very good to me. Taking it slow as this is the first time for me seeing a counselor. Keep in touch through emails and video chat. Teaching some valuable coping skill and I feel much better after a short period of time. I think she is wonderful and listens and understands my needs.

In just two sessions, I already feel better after working with Sarah. She really listens, works to tailor a program and treatment plan towards your specific needs, and is extremely compassionate. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to improve their mental health and am looking forward to continuing our sessions!

Sarah is wonderful, kind, compassionate, and a very gifted therapist. She always meets me where I'm at, supports me when I need it, and is flexible with when we meet. I always feel lighter and more capable after our sessions together.
