I work with adult individuals, couples and families in a collaborative way to address the past and present issues that are impeding their current and future well-being. I believe that it can be difficult to fully process and heal from past trauma or troubling issues alone because we get trapped in our own heads and repeat problematic cycles that perpetuate thoughts and behaviors that hinder growth and healing. I provide a direct and empathic approach which means I will be supportive and kind, but will honestly share feedback in an effort to help you get the most out of therapy.
I specialize in relationship issues of all kinds, couples, anxiety, depression, women's issues, addiction, grief and loss, trauma and PTSD, life transitions, divorce, and issues involving religion. I am equipped to process most issues but will let you know immediately if I am not or if another therapist would be a better fit. I use various modalities depending on the client and presenting issue, but I favor Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). If you are looking for someone who has flexible scheduling, is responsive and cares about helping you develop, prioritize and reach your goals, please take the first step and contact me to schedule a session.

I also have experience in Addictions, LGBT, Family conflicts, Intimacy-related issues, Eating disorders, Sleeping disorders, Parenting issues, Anger management, Self esteem, Career difficulties, Bipolar disorder, Depression

Sarah helps me find the pieces missing from my puzzle, and construct it in a way that I can start to see the bigger picture. She’s patient, uncommonly kind, and thoughtful. I feel cared for, and heard. She’s incredible at what she does to help people, and I’m so glad BetterHelp paired her with me!
I have been appreciative of Sarah’s kindness. It’s been a tough and continuous road and Sarah has been there to guide me.
I've been talking with Sarah for eight months now. It's my first time doing regular counseling as an adult, well actually in my life! My progress has been slow and steady and Sarah has been patient, kind, understanding and helpful with me. There have been multiple "light bulb" moments that Sarah has helped facilitate that provide me with a new perspective to work through deep rooted struggles. I am proud of myself for seeking the help I need right now and so happy I got connected with Sarah. I would definitely recommend her. She has also helped me work on my relationship and communication with my mom, which has been challenging but it's been so helpful to have a neutral outside source who is invested in both of us growing our love and understanding of the other. Thank you Sarah!
Sarah is professional, kind, and accommodating. She pushes where she needs to, but is also willing to let you put forward current issues that are bothering you, even if they don't relate to your long term goal. This is something I have not had in previous settings, and I appreciate it very much.
She is extremely good about flexibility, and as I have a pretty open schedule, we're almost always able to find a great time that works for both of us. She is timely with responses, and encourages me to send messages between sessions, at the very least to provide further context for things. It's refreshing!
I have not had very good experiences with therapy in the past, and Sarah has helped to make this one work for and with me. In short, she's wonderful. Thank you!
If it weren’t for Sarah Lawson... I’d probably be much worse off in depression than I am now. She really listens and understands where I’m coming from which is a huge deal for me. Mrs. Lawson isn’t doing this just as a job. She’s doing this because she genuinely cares about people and in all honesty there’s not a whole lot of that going around nowadays.
My problems haven’t vanished. A lot of them are here for the long haul. But now I’m starting to find them easier to manage thanks to her patience and kindness. I cannot stress it enough how grateful I am to her.
Sarah is able to talk me through and helps me go step by step through my trauma. This really has helped me begin the healing process. In the past everything has been muddled and unclear, and I wasn’t able to think through the events one after another. While it still really hurts to do so, it’s something I can do, and I feel more in control of the narrative. Obviously this method won’t help everyone, but Lawson has always asked me how I want to approach a subject, or if something is working, and so I think that’s really good for anyone getting into therapy who has no clue what they want (such as myself). I feel like I’m treated like a human rather than a source of income, and I find that surprisingly hard to find in in-person therapy.
Very intelligent, professional, compassionate, and a very good listener.
Sarah, even though we haven't been working together for long, you've always respected my boundaries and making it a safe place for me to freely express myself. For me that was huge because I rarely have felt comfortable doing so. So I hope we will continue having productive sessions
Empathetic and direct. Hands down her best qualities.
She's great. She's already helped me so much and is so understanding from emotional issues to technology ones. I would recommended her to people who have similar issues to me, or course I wouldn't recommend her to everyone I know who needs a therapist, but if I think she can help with their issues and that they would like her I'd recommend her in a heart beat.
Sarah is amazing. She had incredible expertise around anxiety and was skilled in helping me navigate mine when I was struggling. Amazing counselor.
