About me

Hello, and welcome to BetterHelp! As life is particularly challenging these days, I’m glad you are taking the important step to get support and gain more insight about how to thrive in this ever-changing world. If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, or overwhelming stress in any area, you are not alone! I would be honored to collaborate with you towards improving your quality of life and cultivating your sources of strength.

Offering client-centered and strengths-based clinical support to a diverse range of clients for over a decade has gifted me with rich perspectives on our inherent abilities to solve problems creatively, address the root causes of emotional discomfort, and identify nourishing ways to cope with life’s stressors. A 2006 MSW graduate of Smith College School for Social Work (with current licensure in NC), my clinically-focused education provided a wide range of therapeutic modalities which I incorporate through an eclectic, relational lens including psychodynamic therapy, CBT, DBT, trauma-informed therapy, Mindfulness and somatic approaches, concepts of harm reduction, family systems, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. We all benefit from different styles of approaching mental health support, and I enjoy working with each individual to tailor the therapeutic approach towards what will best enhance your ability to meet personal goals, address specific needs, and gain insight about how to make positive change.

I believe in the power of authenticity, trust, transparency, and reliability, as well as holding onto hope in the face of adversity. We will begin therapy by assessing various aspects of your life and current concerns, and collaborating to create goals that are meaningful to you and specific to your needs. An advocate and activist for marginalized communities and underserved individuals, one of my areas of specialty is serving people who face multi-systemic oppression and discrimination due to race, class, religion, ability, sexuality and gender identity/expression, and documentation/immigration status. I am engaged in ongoing personal development related to cultural humility and competence, and I truly believe we all benefit from embracing anti-racism and actively working to dismantle oppressive systems.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out for help when you need it - we all need a little support from time to time! I look forward to collaborating with you, and will be excited to support you towards the ultimate goal of living your best life.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Sarah Lewis. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Sarah has been instrumental in walking me through a very difficult point in my life. I had endured a lot of trauma and was in several major life changes all at once during some of the trauma. She supported, encouraged, and empowered me to look within, create boundaries, be kind to myself and to not be afraid to not be ok. Talking with her each week allowed me a safe space to be, to talk, to share, to grow, without the feeling of resentment, unloading, etc that you feel talking with someone else too close to your situation. I will always be very grateful and thankful for her help during this crucial time of going within and learning to be ok with not being ok and knowing that I would and will continue to be ok...even when I am not.

She is absolutely wonderful! She is a very active listener, and she does not judge at all! She is very sincere all the way around, and actually cares for people. Thank you Sarah!
