About Me

Welcome! I am Dr. Sarah McKay and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and I live and work in Oregon. I earned my bachelors degrees (B.S. in psychology and B.A. in pre-law) from the University of North Carolina - Pembroke. My master's degree (M.Ed.) is in mental health counseling from the University of Puget Sound. My doctoral degree (Psy.D.) is from the California School of Professional Psychology - San Francisco.

I have helped people overcome difficulties related to stress and anxiety, trauma, depression, and sleep difficulties. I also have experience working with individuals with Bipolar Disorder and other severe mental illnesses that impact their lives significantly. I also tend to take a trauma-focused approach, which means that I take into account any trauma or traumatic experiences an individual has had in their life, and use that to inform my understanding of their currently difficulties. I embrace a partnership-style approach to working with clients, and we plan out specific goals that work and make sense for them. Ultimately, my goal is to help individuals build and develop skills to help them approach life's difficulties with confidence.

I am training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I tend to take an eclectic approach to therapy and utilize a variety of interventions, making therapy unique to the individual and their current difficulties. It is my job to listen and understand your view of your current struggles and determine which interventions would be most helpful for you in your journey.
