Welcome, I am glad you are here.
I hope to provide the support you need on your life adventure. At times adventures can offer challenges that can become overwhelming and seem impossible to manage alone. Together we can figure out what you need to manage life's challenges and achieve your goals. My approach to counseling is Person Centered. Which means I listen to you with empathy and concern in a non judgmental environment. Together we can develop a plan to help you navigate through the challenges in your life.
Professionally,
I began my career as a nurse and continue to work at the local hospital in Hospice care. I received a Masters in Counseling from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2004. Since obtaining my counseling license I have worked in both counseling and nursing roles. I have experience working in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings with all age groups. I have worked in healthcare for over 25 years. I understand and appreciate the complexities related to both mental and physical health. I believe healing takes place in the mind, body and soul.
Therapeutic approaches I have interest in and currently exploring: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and increasing my knowledge of mindfulness and meditation practices.
Personally,
I live in Durango Colorado with my significant other and our dog Lucy. In my free time you will find me spending time outdoors exploring this amazing countryside, trying to get to a yoga class or relaxing at home with music and the company of my loved ones. I also enjoy expanding my knowledge base on areas of health, the mind and the human condition.
I look forward to providing you an open and welcoming space where you can be your authentic self.

Sarah has been absolutely wonderful. She does a great job of making me feel comfortable with what I am sharing and what I am feeling. I have tried seeking help like this before and find that I can talk to her much easier than in previous experiences. Every session I leave feeling so glad that I am taking this step. I am very grateful to have been paired with her.
