About me

Hi and welcome! It takes a lot of courage and insight to seek help and I'm glad that you were able to reach out. I have been working in mental health for five years. I received my masters' degree in mental health counseling at the University of Massachusetts and have been an LMHC since 2019. I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse population, including individuals experiencing persistent acute mental health issues, substance abuse disorders, comorbid disorders, anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, as well as more typical life changes. My clients typically come from diverse backgrounds from all sorts of races, ethnicities, sexualities, gender identities, and belief systems. My treatment focus is person-centered and I utilize the empowerment model to meet my client's where they are at and develop interventions that will assist my client's in obtaining their goals most effectively.

I believe that developing a positive and trusting relationship with my clients is one of the most important features of therapy. Creating a safe space where a client can feel supported and understood is the first step to making any real changes. I always strive to use empathy and validation to build the therapeutic relationship. I firmly believe that we can all benefit from therapy at some point in our lives, even if it's only to have an unbiased ear to listen. I utilize techniques founded in CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and other evidence based practices to teach skills to manage mental health issues and environmental challenges.

If this sounds like something that would be a good fit, lets talk more!

Sarah provides a warm and calming aspect to her approach. What I like is we converse on the issue, I am asked appropriate questions and we discuss solutions. Sarah is very knowledgable across a range of areas including LGBTIQ, anxiety, stress, depression and general health and well-being. I do look forward to our sessions and I get allot out of them.

In the short time I have worked with Sarah I have found her to be an excellent therapist, and just in general a good person. She is easy to talk to, creates an atmosphere of ease and comfort, and has a fantastic sense of humor. She is a gentle listener, and offers her support and suggestions in such a way that they hold weight and conviction. I quite enjoy our sessions, and leave every one of them with insight and things to ponder and work through.
