About me

My name is Scott Van Camp and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been in the field of counseling for over 25 years. During those 25 years, I have served in settings ranging from private practice to community-based organizations focusing on mental health, arts education, human trafficking, suicide prevention, higher learning, and substance use treatment. I choose to listen deeply to others, and partner with people to identify and integrate their strengths toward accomplishing their goals. I believe that counseling relationships are collaborative, and are facilitated best through compassion, kind curiosity, and a deep fundamental belief in people.

As a counselor providing individual, couples, and family therapy, I utilize interventions from Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavior, Solution-Focused, Narrative, Extended Family Systems Therapy, and EMDR; while also utilizing training in mindfulness and Eastern practices, Motivational Interviewing, and Expressive Arts. In my experience, we can choose to: reject, tolerate, accept, or celebrate other people's stories. I choose to celebrate. Working as a psychotherapist is an honor, and an inspiring way to celebrate other people and join them on their journeys toward further meaning, understanding, and joy in their lives.
