Senija Puskar, LPC
My name is Senija Puskar. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas.
I have over 7 years of experience in the mental health field. I received my Master of Science in Counseling from Tarleton State University. I completed my graduate internship in child and adolescent unit at MHMR Tarrant County as well as an inpatient treatment manager in the adult unit at Medical City Green Oaks in Dallas, TX.
As a psychodynamic therapist I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Solution Focused Behavioral Therapy (SFBT). I specialize in immigration issues, adjusting to new cultures, new moms issues, depression, anxiety, life stage transition, relationship difficulties, interpersonal conflict and communication, and healthy boundaries in relationships.
I have a passion to help others learn that their past does not define their present or future. As a therapist I help my clients understand their family of origin, explore reasons certain issues may have developed, and understanding the reasons behind their choices, beliefs, and emotions. I utilize SFB to help clients improve their present emotional wellbeing, focus on the future, and find effective solutions to current harmful behaviors. I use CBT to help my clients develop and practice new coping skills, reframe their thought process, and change their behaviors. I am also dedicated to helping new mothers navigate the anxiety, guilt and shame that can often accompany parenthood. I help new mothers work through these negative emotions by normalizing them and creating an accepting, validating, judgment free environment.
