About me

Welcome - let me start by congratulating you on taking the difficult step of seeking help in dealing with your current issue(s). Whether your concerns are related to your own functioning, relationships, or professional issues, let me assure you that I will work closely with you to develop appropriate goals that we can then work on together. The initial step toward change is often difficult but if you are ready to take that step, then know that I will be here with you to offer support and empower you.

Let me share some background information about me so that you have a better understanding of the type of therapy service I provide. I am a California-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with more than 15 years of experience, and I also have candidate standing in my clinical psychology PhD program; I have worked extensively with children, adults, and families in a variety of settings and have assisted clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, childhood disorders, and parenting problems. I am trained in PCIT, CBT, and completed my year-long doctoral internship with Rogers Memorial Hospital in Wisconsin specializing in treatment of OCD via ERP in residential, inpatient, and outpatient settings.

While I primarily approach therapy from a Cognitive Behavioral perspective, focusing on challenging thoughts and changing behaviors, I do so with a strong focus on my clients’ individual needs, and consider their individual issues with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I want you to have an active role and feel supported in session regardless of the modality used, so that you may reach your goals in improving your functioning in personal and/or professional settings.

Shahzad Chaudhry is able to read and understand my statements without misinterpretation. I find this to be a great relief each time I receive a message from him as I never have to be afraid of what he will send me next, given my existing traumas and anxieties from other healthcare professionals and members of authority. Shahzad allows me to feel safe without the need to explain myself other than to share additional thoughts because he genuinely hears and acknowledges what I say as real, as well as with clarity. I feel that I can continue to progress because I never, ever have to go back to explain something again, like I have done three times in this review.
