Other areas of experience include: Marriage and family, individual, group, coaching, and mentoring. experience working with anxiety, family/relationship conflicts, life transitions, and complex trauma/abuse. I use diversity when working with individuals to overcome challenges such as marital issues, anger management, school behaviors, stress management, mood disorders, communication and managing interpersonal relationship issues.

My approach combines positive psychology, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic and dialectical behavior counseling. I believe relationships are the origin of our greatest growth yet can also be the source of our considerable challenges. I focus on meeting couples, individuals, and families where they are by creating a comfortable and safe space. I have witnessed many clients overcome significant blocks; move into a more satisfying expression of their potential.

Counseling may be one of the greatest self-care gifts one can give. Shakia is an extremely professional, encouraging and positive therapist who has helped me tremendously even in a short amount of time. She is able to provide an open space that welcomes all concerns, thoughts and actions. She has encouraged me to delve into my thoughts, childhood, and personal life to reflect on why I think the way I do. I can't recommend her enough!
