About me

Hello! I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of experience in the field of social work. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Southern Mississippi where I gained experience working with at risk youth and young adults with intellectual disabilities while pursuing a degree in social work. I received my graduate degree in social work from the University of Alabama with a focus in children, adolescents, and their families. I have spent the past six years providing mental and behavioral health counseling to individuals of all ages. My focus areas include working with individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, and major life changes. I am passionate about being a support for those who simply need someone to listen, to acknowledge their feelings, and to be present for them emotionally. My counseling style is client-centered and determined by the individual needs of the client. My treatment approach meets the client where they are, promotes being solution focused, and addresses distorted thinking patterns impacting well-being all while providing ongoing support and encouragement. I find no greater joy than helping be a light to those in moments of darkness. You are not alone and it would be my great pleasure to work with you.

Shamari is a wonderful therapist! I’m so thankful for her patience and empathy as we explored what I was experiencing. Shamari has helped me to identify my unhelpful thoughts and replace them with helpful ones. And she has given me the space I needed to express myself. I will continue to be encouraged by our sessions, especially her words to be my authentic self with the people who are important to me. Thank you!

Love Shamari! She gets me and is the reason I recommend betterhelp to friends. Talking to her and her observations make clarity out of situations that are really painful and tough to talk about, but she helps me plan for. She rocks!
