About Me

Hello! I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with six years of experience in the field. I attended undergraduate at the University of Southern Mississippi where I gained experience working with at risk youth while pursuing my degree in social work. I received my graduate degree in social work from the University of Alabama with a focus in children, adolescents, and their families. I have spent the past three years providing mental health counseling to individuals of all ages. My focus areas include working with individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, anger issues, and major life changes. I am passionate about being a support for those who simply need someone to listen to them, to acknowledge their feelings, and to be present for them emotionally. My counseling style is client-centered and always determined by the individual needs of the client. My treatment approach incorporates evidence based techniques to meet the client where they are, to promote being solution focused, and to address distorted thinking patterns all while providing ongoing support and encouragement. I find no greater joy than helping be a light to those in darkness. You are not alone and it would be my great pleasure to work with you.

I’ve tried therapy in all varieties (in-person, video, and online) and was largely disappointed with my results. That all changed when I started working with Shamari. I’ve finally found a therapist who is helpful, kind, and mindful of my needs. I finally feel like I’m making progress!

She’s amazing. She’s so easy to talk to and she’s helped my confidence so much. She gives me a comfortable and open outlet for all of my anxieties and helps me battle them with confidence and ease. I can’t speak highly enough of her.

Shamari is amazing. I am not sure what I would have done without her for the last few months. I have a lot going on in my life at the moment and it brought up some past traumas I was not dealing with. She has not only helped me walk through this time of uncertainty and doubt but helped me realize where my issues lie and how to address them in a healthier manner.

Shamari has been very thorough, which I appreciate. She's made me feel heard, she's good at filtering through my rants to pick out the important parts that I need to work on. She's helped me look at my problems through a different lense and get a fresh take. It hasn't been long but I'm thankful for what she's already done to help me.
