My name is Shameka, I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor of Georgia and currently have Emergency Licensure in New Jersey and New Hampshire due to the pandemic. I have worked with children, adults, and families whom are seeking counseling or mental health care for over 10 years, in various settings and for various reasons. I have experience with addressing issues of anxiety, depression, anger issues, substance abuse, parenting issues, adjusting to life changes, and many other emotional needs.
My counseling style is pretty laid back but direct and firm in order to allow you to identify and address your emotional and mental need. I have been described as realistic, supportive, caring, encouraging, and compassionate. I like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping you to maximize them to overcome your obstacles as well as addressing current trends to resolve ongoing issues. I'm here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now, and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment. You have taken the first and most important step by reaching out for help.
Please know that you are not alone. Things can and will get better. I’m really looking forward to getting to know you. Once I’ve received your contact information, we will continue our brief intake process. Should you have any questions along the way, please don’t hesitate to ask.
**Should you ever feel in need of urgent help, at risk of harming yourself or someone else, or that you are in crisis at any time during our work together, please call 1-800-273-TALK 24-hours a day or call 911. This forum does not provide any type of emergency services, so I want to be sure you know where to reach out if you ever need immediate help.**

She is absolutely amazing!
Shameka is a great counselor. Very good at listening and responding...
I just scheduled my second appointment with Shameka! In our first session, she was so easy going and I instantly felt comfortable opening up! Thank you Shameka!
I have seen MANY therapists over the years but Shameka has been INCREDIBLE. She is supportive and also challenges me the way I need to improve my life. I am SO glad that I found her!
I had several sessions with Shameka regarding aid with parental issues and work.
She does a very good job with provide direct feedback with issues that are going on and gives "Homework" assignments to continue working on issues on your time. I find this to be very helpful as her approach is to find resolution with some of the deeper issues a patient could be facing.
She is responsive when it comes to messaging and always keeps the focus on the key root of issues (even if you go on a tangent.)
I would highly recommend seeing her.
Very caring and understanding. I enjoy talking to Shameka.
