About Me

Have you ever had something traumatic to happen that has had a significant impact on your life? Are you constantly reminded about this experience and find yourself hysterical and afraid as a result? Are you an African American male or female who has experienced trauma as a result of violence? Racing thoughts? Not enough time in the day? Feeling like you are losing your identity due to work, parenthood, or marriage? Overreacting or not feeling any emotion whatsoever? Are you a breast cancer patient/survivor under the age of 40? If any of this hits home, then I am the therapist for you!

I specialize in anxiety, trauma-related issues, self-care, stress management, self-identity, and emotional disturbance. I utilize an ecletic approach to treatment, which may include cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. I also refer to art and narrative therapy.

Shanice is extremely patient and understanding. She is very smart but does not jump to conclusions. She accommodated my needs for longer sessions when I needed it the most and always provided tremendous amount of constructive advice, resources, and solutions to stay grounded and focused. I was quite sceptical about starting my session as I was very low and didn’t think it would help at all but Shanice was incredible from the get go! She checked in before our session to make sure I had everything I needed support wise and during our sessions she listened to everything I had to say and gave such wonderful guidance on what I needed to do going forward, she not only helped me with my main issue but also gave support in other situations.

I highly recommend Shanice to anyone who is going through something, especially during this tough time!

Finding this counselor was a stroke of luck for me. Shanice's analysis and advice on how to address issues have been insightful, in-depth and practical at the same time. Furthermore, we never got sidetracked; every session had been focused on the issue at hand, the steps needed to fix it, and precisely how those steps would help me address the issue. Overall, I highly recommend Shanice as a counselor. I made more progress with her in six weeks than in my previous two months of working with other counselors.
