About Me

Hello, my name is Shannon Davis. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oklahoma for over 7 years and a Licensed School Psychologist and School Counselor in Oklahoma for over 15 years. In my experience as a therapist, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse array of clients of varying ages and backgrounds. I have worked with clients battling anxiety, depression, relationship issues, coping with life transitions, clients who have experienced emotional and physical trauma, clients with attention deficit disorders, mood disorders, panic disorders, educational disabilities, couples issues, and other various issues. I have worked in a variety of settings including inner-city schools, rural schools, and agency work. I have worked specifically with teens and children for over 15 years and my expertise includes dealing with self-harm, anxiety, depression, identity issues, ADHD, social skills, parenting, grief and loss, anger and stress management, trauma, and abuse.

My counseling style is empathetic, open and warm. I want to assure you that this is a safe space for you to share and explore whatever may be weighing on you. Our therapeutic relationship will be based on trust, compassion, and a desire for growth. I approach every client as an individual and develop a treatment specifically tailored to each client's needs. I use a variety of techniques and like to find what works best for my clients. With adults I gravitate towards the use of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), talk therapy or client centered therapy. I generally use a combination approach for best results for a client. With children or teens I often use art therapy to get them to open up and bring awareness to the surface. I also use CBT techniques often such as mindfulness, modeling, journaling, activity scheduling, role-playing, and assertiveness training. I also use interpersonal psychotherapy, talk therapy, and even sometimes draw from the psychodynamic approach analyzing dreams and discussing childhood issues. I love to find out how my clients can adapt to new ways of learning and I push them to challenge themselves to function better, build better relationships, and find their life purpose. I have always been drawn to helping people; even more so, I feel passionate about allowing people a safe space to ask for help without judgments.

Taking the first steps toward a better, more fulfilling life takes courage and vulnerability. I am committed to my clients’ well-being and guiding them through their emotional struggles. I believe mental health therapists are guides for clients to find their path to a happier self. Along this path, clients are faced with obstacles that may be difficult to understand or put meaning behind. I am committed to helping you through those obstacles.

Shannon has helped me tremendously with my mental health. She has helped me with reducing my daily anxiety, providing a safe space to vent and seek advice, and has been such a kind soul. I knew I needed help but I knew my depression was far too great to actually push myself to go to an actual appointment and with Covid this was the best option. I went through 3 counselors before I found Shannon and I’m BEYOND HAPPY I didn’t give up. She gets it, and understands me and I feel comfortable opening up because she keeps it real and challenges me in all the best ways to promote growth and battle this anxiety, depression and eating anxiety. This is the first counselor I’ve ever felt comfortable with and she gives a very warm and reassuring approach that makes it easier to open up and allows you to express anything while she helps guide you through it. I definitely recommend her! My anxiety and depression isn’t gone, but when I feel low I’m 100% okay with being honest about it so that she can help me out of it. She’s great!

Shannon is absolutely amazing! She is willing to help you so much and helps you get back on track to be able to feel like your normal self again!
