About me

I am a licensed professional counselor who has worked with a variety of populations and issues. As a graduate student, I interned with an LGBTQ+ positive private practice that specialized in transgender issues. I led transgender support groups and worked with transgender clients in many different stages of transition. Immediately post-grad, I worked as a crisis assessment specialist, traveling among many counties to talk to clients who were experiencing crises that required immediate assistance. Clients in crisis experienced mood disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, and some levels of psychosis, I moved from crisis to community mental health counseling, where I used my work with the LGBTQ+ community to start an awareness training for this rural nonprofit. I also began studying DBT and using these skills to work with clients battling personality disorders, specifically adolescents and young adults. I currently work as a therapist at an acute psychiatric unit, utilizing both my work as a crisis specialist, and as a DBT therapist to provide short-term counseling.
When I'm not working, I'm involved in animal activism and politics, as well as yoga and hiking. My partner and I travel whenever we can, but always return home to our three polydactyl cats!
